Fresh off a premiere on Nylon, established figure in the pop culture world and actress LA based Hayley Kiyoko has released a sparkly pop track “This Side of Paradise” with more shadowy undertones. The tune itself is upbeat, but with decidedly darker lyrics that can change your perspective if you listen carefully. It speaks to the idea that you can have better luck in the fantasy of a relationship than in the actual act, where someone can be next to you but still feel like a ghost. And that is the other side of paradise in a track that bears distinct similarities to Lykke Li and Charlie XCX.
