From playing the naive Litchfield prison sweetheart to recently being honored with an American Latino Media Arts award, it's safe to say it's been a busy yet successful year for Dascha Polanco. She stars as Daya Diaz on the wildly popular Netflix series Orange Is The New Black (seriously, is anyone else impatiently waiting for season 3?) and has been turning heads as a rising actress with some seriously badass style – just check out the new silver/purple locks she debuted at New York Fashion Week.
The Jenji Kohan-helmed show helped usher Polanco into the spotlight and has been a great platform for her talent, like it has been for all the impressive actors on the show. Seriously, that scene where an indignant Daya stands up to her corrections officer/lover John Bennett and points out how powerless inmates are at women's prisons? Yea. That's in large part due to Kohan and the incredible writers, but casting director Jennifer Euston is probably another one to thank.
Despite that feisty scene, the Dominican actress is incredibly sweet and recently caught up with us to share some of her favorite tracks. Dash clearly has a soft spot for music, making an appearance at the IHeartRadio festival and hitting the road with fellow OITNB castmate Taryn Manning to MC her sets this summer. With songs by Frank Ocean, Migos, Sia, Nico & Vinz, Enrique Iglesias, Rick Ross and more, Polanco's playlist is an upbeat, fun compilation with something for everyone. Press play below.
