Kid Moxie is the moniker of L.A.-based singer and musician Elena Charbila. A brief overview of her Soundcloud reveals Charbila's talent for crafting gloomy, goth-tinged pop tunes, and with her forthcoming album 1888 right around the corner, she's sure to reach a wider audience soon.
Also sure to gain her a little exposure is her collaboration with Brainfeeder's maniacal producer The Gaslamp Killer on 1888's lead track, "Museum Motel." A seemingly atypical track for both artists, "Museum Motel" is a towering cathedral of cinematic violin and militaristic drumming, Charbila's voice is like a ghost haunting the premises. The music video, directed by Markus Hofko, depicts Kid Moxie in a beautifully desolate lagoon. If it's any hint at 1888's general sound, "Museum Motel" suggests that the album should be a unique slice of juicy darkness.
1888 is set to drop Dec. 2 via self-release, with vinyl through Undo/EMI.
