The Slocal movement that has taken to the streets of London in the past couple of years has seen a plethora of talent emerge from the depths of the big smoke. Indeed, emcee's such as ItsNate and producers like JD Reid have all shown the talents needed to transcribe their talents to lands far and wide.
Another talent to emerge out of the Slocal collective, CR Blacks, has steadily been establishing himself as one of the capital's hottest emcee's on the come up right now, and his track "Do My Thing" was premiered by EARMILK a few months ago. Now Blacks is back with the full project that song was taken from, with the premiere of his Tabula Rasa EP. Sitting at six tracks deep, and running at just under twenty minutes, Tabula Rasa is the perfect glimpse into what kind of rapper CR Blacks is. With two already featured bangers in "Do My Thing" and "Strange Numbers", we've been treated to four more joints that fit a similar mould, allowing Blacks to really shine over each beat. The production credits range from long time collaborator Selasse, to new faces, at least to me, in Footsteps, Nonsnc, K-Nite and KZ, all of whom provide the perfect backdrops for Blacks to paint with his words.
