Every now and again a remix comes out for a popularly remixed song that stands out amongst all the other remixes due to the remix artist’s unique spin and take on the track. In the case of “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” by Kendrick Lamar, Kero One is just that artist who was able to create the most distinctive and idiosyncratic remix of the track yet. Kero One’s inspiration behind his remix of “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” comes from the word “Vibe” of the track’s title. One reinterprets the word “Vibe” in favor of “Vibraphone”— a percussion instrument whose sound regularly graces the lobbies of exotic hotels. Kero One strips down the original “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” beat and substitutes with a jazz-inspired vibraphone melody, which evokes that of tropical sceneries and landscapes to the listener’s mind. Kero One goes even further with his edits to the track by adding a spaced-out synth that surprisingly compliments the vibraphone perfectly.
