It’s always a brave move going it alone after a successful production relationship, but WNDRKND has done just that, taking full responsibility for the grandeur of his new track. “Get That Cash” builds on the foundations laid by PGMW on standout efforts from his last mixtape CVTS, such as “Deus” which featured Ibn Inglor. The highlight of that tape came with equally supreme visuals and the cold sonic stylings of “Balaclava” are apparent once again throughout the 5:24 of “Get That Cash”.
WNDRKND hasn’t tried to recreate the post-apocalyptic tone of PGMW’s work, but has instead dug deeper into his creative locker to craft his own “dark future”. “Get That Cash” has the ability to engulf the listener from the offset with a lead synth that dominates amidst a gloomy set of pads and grumbling bass. WNDRKND’s somewhat debut production effort goes down a treat and while it’s difficult to imagine what kind of video could add another dimension to “Get That Cash”, there’s always the option to just close your eyes and let the darkness reign. Anticipation for WNDRKND’s forthcoming Hope & Fear tape is certainly built by this solid outing.
