Metro Boomin is quietly having a monstrous year, one that is perhaps even better than Mike Will's 2013 — which earned him SPIN magazine Artist of the Year honors. After landing production credits on YG's My Krazy Life, Future's Honest, 2 Chainz's FreeBase EP, and Wiz Khalifa's 28 Grams, he's continuing to build momentum for a strong close. He's the producer on everyone's radar. Metro Boomin is the future of trap.
The young upstart ATL producer has two releases queued up for the remainder of 2014; one a collaboration with Young Thug aptly titled Metro Thuggin, and the other a solo offering called 20 and Boomin, which will showcase he production via a host of artists. The first release off the latter, "Chanel Vintage," features the aforementioned Young Thug and Future, and the three are a match made in weirdo trap heaven.
Over a chimey, synth-laced instrumental, the two Atlanta rappers do what they do best; they each shout rap their way right out of your speakers. Young Thug even takes the time to promote higher education: "Young Thugga don't want him no stale misses, let me see some degrees." It makes a fitting appetizer. Hopefully, there's more to come soon.
