NYC-based rapper Chris Cartier certainly is on my radar after releasing this killer video for his single "Half Dead." Kicking off the song with beautiful vocals that visually introduces Cartier into the video, he jumps in smoothly over violins and electronic synths.

While the melody is tame in its nature, Cartier is anything but. He goes in hard and doesn't give up through the entire song. Both the video and track rely heavily on the artist to create its success and Cartier does not fail. This song is beautifully done, and its combination with a future bass influenced beat is indicative of the transitions music is taking in 2014.
Producer Jwiz and Chris Cartier are both artists that need to be on every hip hop fan's radar this summer. This track is off the God Don't Like Ugly Summer 2014 mixtape.
