London-based producer patten has risen quite quickly, and largely through an unorthodox method. While his own releases of sample-based IDM have been put out in the past by No Pain in Pop and his current label Warp, what’s really getting him noticed is his Re-Edits series.
The series finds patten blending the concept of a mix with his sampling talent. The newly released Re-Edits Vol. 17 is maybe the best yet, traversing a wide range of musical territory, from Theo Parrish to Warp forefathers Boards of Canada. He even throws in everyone’s favorite Death Grips sing-along, “Guillotine.” Now that patten has attracted so much attention, it will be exciting to see a full length release on such a legendary label. Stream Vol. 17 below, and download it for free here, along with his previous Re-Edits.
