The Outfit is a trio that hail from the Southern state of Texas, and they've teamed up with former Passion Pit drummer, who now goes under the alias Shuttle Music, to craft together a dark hip hop track titled "Stalactight." For those that need a little refresher on what exactly a stalactite is, it's those rocks that hang down from the ceiling in caves and are kinda drippy, and this song strongly resembles this. Changing the tite into tight was a nice bonus as well.
There's a great echo that drips through and blends in with the next lyric and chord progression,, creating a dramatic sphere that meshes well with the dark feel of the track. It's not exactly the sort of track I'd like to hear if I was in a dark hole like a cave in real life, but this is definitely a song I'd like to hear blasting out of a car on a night like tonight, where the suns been out all day and I'm feeling ready for a little bit of something a bit dark. The trio are "Cooly Fooly Space Age Funk" sound, and this fits perfectly in with their continued quest for funk influenced hip hop in the modern age.
Check out the track below and head over to their website for updated information on their future tour dates and music release.
