Last weekend’s Ultra Music Festival wasn’t only a spectacle of lights, sound, and overzealous partiers, it also served to unveil a huge crop of new music on a huge stage. Throughout the weekend, artists pulled out a number of their own secret weapons, but there may have been no set that garnered more ID buzz than Diplo & Skrillex’s side project, Jack U, on Sunday’s main stage.
While it may have not been a world premiere, with existing support from several members of the OWSLA family, Salva’s remix “Push Em Up” proved to be one of the most anticipated new tracks from Jack U’s floor-rocking set. As a hybrid of Boys Noize’s dirty synths and Salva’s L.A. bass, this one could flip a rave on its head. Reminiscent of a Dog Blood track packed with GTA-style festival kicks, it's a juke track that takes no prisoners. No release date in sight on this one, but look for it soon on Boysnoize Records.
