When it comes to sub-genres, there's always a taboo about them, with some people not really wanting to put a label on certain sounds. Alt-rap is one of those genres, and with people like Tyler The Creator making the alternative side of the genre more popular over recent years, it looks like it's going to stick around.
With that being said, today EARMILK can bring you the exclusive premiere of the new single from one of the UK's hottest up and coming alt-rappers Asante. "Show Me War" is the first track taken from the young Londoner's upcoming debut EP Finding Found, and showcases his talents perfectly. Backed by a self-produced beat that's distorted overtones add to the eerily sung hook, which uses autotune cleverly, sounding like something that would come straight off a Kanye West track. Asante then delivers some really gritty bars, which mainly circle around the subject of war, making the point that we should hand politicians weapons and make them fight whilst we save lives by not taking any in the first place. Considering the touchiness of the subject at hand, the way in which Asante delivers these bars is done with perfect execution, as he carves his way along the track and brings us an enthralling listen throughout.
