The relatively unknown output Imaginary Friends, come to us from New York, bringing listeners a unique take on poppy house. Made up of three former schoolmates, Benny Renier (production), Jimmy Quinn (production) and Sapphire Adizes (vocals and saxophone), the trio meld together their talents to create jazz-inspired releases drizzled with infectious soul. With a debut EP set to release in the Spring, Imaginary Friends, aka IF, began to showcase the spectrum of their house-leaning productions only a month ago. The trio made their first original Soundcloud debut with the reveal of "She Knows," a bouncing bass-kick driven beat met with Adizes' silky voice.
Today, IF releases "Love & Groove," another track from their forthcoming self-titled EP, this time speaking even more to their jazz and R&B influences. Beginning with an off-kilter vocal hook and drum kick-driven intro, the track blends into piano chords and breathy vocals from Sedric Perry, before unraveling a vibrant toe-tapping production. Still fine-tuning their production skills, these first two outings from Imaginary Friends attest to the groups' infectious dynamic, confirming they are ones to watch this 2014.
