When UK rapper Giggs released his latest album When Will It Stop, his attempt to do a signing tour across the UK got off to a rocky start when the authorities decided that the opening day couldn't go ahead, with little explanation as to why. Now, whereas the majority of artists would just hold their hands up and apologise to the fans for not being able to make the signing session, Giggs did something that showed why he is one of the most revered UK emcee's around; he showed up anyway. Instead of disappointing the hundreds of fans who were scheduled to turn up, he stood right outside the store, signed autographs and took pictures with his fans.
It's been a long struggle for the talented wordsmith, a recent prison sentence of firearms charges seemed to derail the South London lad, but he steamrolled through it and came up smiling on the other side. He then released his third studio album, When Will It Stop, to heaps of praise from fans and critics alike. The laid back style and flow that he possesses sets him out from the rest of the UK scene, and he continued in that manner on his latest effort, even managing to snag a production credit from none other than New York-adopted (but now back in the UK) super producer Mark Ronson, on the track "Is It Gangsta (Yes Yes Yes)".
One of the standout tracks however is "Mr Kool", which features American R&B crooner Anthony Hamilton on the hook. "Mr Kool" stood out due to the brass sampled beat which was produced by MMG affiliated wonder trio J.U.S.T.I.C.E League. This past weekend Giggs treated us to the Teddy Nygh directed visuals, which see's a dapper looking Giggs wandering round the suburbs, whilst 'Mr Kool' Anthony Hamilton gets chauffeured around in a nice looking classic car, all of this is well put together and flows nicely.
"Mr Kool" is taken from Giggs latest album When Will It Stop, which you can buy on iTunes.
