When anyone from French Express pipes up, it’s always worth a listen. Kicked off by an early year Essential Mix from Perseus and Jonas Rathsman, the label has seen huge success throughout 2013, releasing tracks from the likes of Chris Malinchak, Moon Boots, and Isaac Tichauer, many of which top year-end favorites lists. Now, when the crew links up with Lane 8 for a free release, that’s worth stopping what you’re doing right this moment to check it out. With tracks like “Be Mine” his remix for Le Youth’s “C O O L” charting the breakout producer up the charts, his recent move to Germany to make music full time was a logical next step.
His latest offering “How I Feel” is as dreamy as we would hope, sampling the classic Nina Simone jazz track “Feeling Good”. After pitching down the vocals and laying out smooth piano chords over a walking bassline, the track’s elements fuse together quite nicely.
