At the beginning of the month, we opened the doors to music submissions for remixes of  Cathedral's delicate track "Unbound." With submissions pouring in, it was no easy feat for the band to find their winner, but after long and careful deliberation, they decided on a minimalistic-styled track by Arleta.

Often times less is more, and this is the case with the this remix, as it keeps close to the ground through the majority of the track. The raw sound found in this version immediately draws on deep emotional heartstrings through its hushed sound. As the track goes in deeper the subtlety of each noise that blended so perfectly together becomes impactful and climaxes along with the beautiful vocals. Keeping true to the original, this song masterfully blends into the perfect definition of a remix. It's a careful ode to the creator with a new spin on it.

However, that isn't to say that CATHEDRALS didn't enjoy the other mixes. There were other standouts, and CATHEDRALS have also picked a few runner-ups worthy of a mention as well.

If a spaced out experimental take on "Unbound" sounds intriguing, then Geodesics remix is perfect; the track floats high above the ground with vocals and a light underlying beat acting as the only tethering elements.

Basking in a heavy electronic glow, BLU J's remix is best approached with a sharp knife as it is one dense track. Throughout the song, the soundscape is made up of a plethora of elements that step drastically away from the original, bringing the intensity and energy up to a straight level 10. Perfect for the workout sesh we should all really be going to.

If in search for a washed out take, then look no further than Seion's Remix takes the most poetic reimagining in structure and form while placing the vocals behind the instrumentals to draw out new textures.

Because everyone was so great, we are adding all of the submissions that we received into this post as well. Comment on what your favorite remix is below!
