Curl Up – "Snap"

Plastician's label Terrorhythm recently released Curl Up's innovative yet infectiously catchy Missed U EP. While its tracks "Untitled" and "Yea" are incredible works of club and experimental styles, "Snap" is the largest tune of the EP. Curl Up flipped a sample of what sounds like Ginuwine's "Pony" but takes it on an acid synth ride into a manic breakbeat rhythm. Seamlessly flowing into half-time breakdowns it spits out giant rising synth pads that fill up the sonic space of the tune and more. The beats are as tightly woven and groovy as Cashmere Cat, Hoodboi, or Trippy Turtle…if not more. While I fully respect every pioneer of Jersey Club music out there, you don't have to live in Jersey to make some incredible tunes inspired by the genre. Curl Up hits the nail on the head with this EP. Expect to hear all three songs at a sweaty dance party near you.
