LA-based Bad Suns instantaneously became a new favorite band when we heard their contagious-as-the-plague track “Cardiac Arrest” earlier this year, and we've been waiting for an encore ever since. And yesterday, what to our wondering ears should appear? A comparably catchy song “Salt” off their first and forthcoming EP Transpose (to be released in the New Year). Not surprisingly, we’ve fallen victim again to their 80s tempos that tease us like a temptress, and vocals and bass that bounce around the track like a game of tennis.
The mix of staccato vox a la The 1975 and soaring chorus at 1:50 on par with the Sting’s “Roxanne” hook makes for a modern-day take on a classic sound, and it’s almost too toe-tapping addictive. But soon we can get the full fix, as their anticipated EP comes out January 21 via Vagrant Records – a surefire way to support the annual resolution topping our list each year: listen to more great music.
