San Diego based producer YNGN is new blood on the radar but came swinging like a veteran on this remix of the legendary trip hop group Portishead. A blend of jungle style breaks and juke/footwork double time beats along with the slow moving and entrancing vocals provided by Portishead create an unexpectedly soothing sonic picture.
YNGN is also a driving force behind Knightwerk, a budding label based in San Diego that focuses on various forward thinking styles of dance and experimental music. Amongst the music world of the west coast, Knightwerk takes an enormously open approach to the genres of music they explore. Compilations of very well known producers are soon to come and hopefully a feature of YNGN on an upcoming live-stream show in conjunction with MOX in LA.
