While everyone talked about the TDE cypher for Kendrick's yet again amazing verse at the BET Award show, the truth is, everyone in the cycle had something impressive to spit. My friend described Ab-Soul as having a lazy style, and speaking in the simplest terms, that really seems the most fitting way to describe the sunglassed LA stoner. The artist brought his unique style and brought out impressively unique rhymes to the cypher, and he easily impressed the world as he showed the world how California does it.
Thursday evening kicked off with a release of "Dub Sac," a dreamy, transcendental track with strong lyrics, production, and attitude. The song manipulates all of Ab-Soul's strong qualities, meshing it into a track that's not entirely party heavy, but also not sit-in-your-room-and-think-about-life. Instead, it sits somewhere in the middle, perfect for a little inner-soul searching, but still not so deep it can be played while chilling with some friends.
