Hailing from Liverpool, England, Friend Within has been making waves in the electronic music seen across the world. Bursting onto the scene in 2013 with releases on Dirtybird and PETS, the English producer has been making friends with some influential artists including Skream, Eats Everything, and of course, Disclosure. Now prepping to re-release his debut EP The Renegade, via Disclosure's own Method Records on October 20, ("The Renegade" was the first single to be released on the Lawrence brothers' new label) Friend Within brings listeners a VIP remix of the title track by Special Request, aka Paul Woolford.
The original cut has already seen praise, receiving heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1 and now Special Request returns to give "The Renegade" another rework. With a remix already underway, the fellow UK producer revisits "The Renegade" for a new VIP rendition, available as a free download. This time around, Special Request slows the bouncing 4/4 beat slightly, muffling the bass wobbles to make a rework that stays true to Friend Within's and Disclosure's hip-hop infused house style. Continuing to pay ode to their predecessors, Special Request and Friend Within keep the '90s feeling without touching the Fatboy Slim "Renegade Master '98" sample, a remix of Wildchild's 1995 hit.
