New-Jersey based producer K-Def has been working with legendary artists like Ghostface Killah, Ol' Dirty Bastard and Lords of the Underground since the early 90s. Known for his Blues and Soul sampling, K-Def contributed to the golden age and continues to crank out projects today. Few can argue against California emcee Blu being on the path to legend himself. He is one of the few rappers 30 years of age or younger who can boast of having a classic album (Below the Heavens) under their belt. After hearing these two on "The Fundamentals", a cut off of K-Def's album The Exhibit, it was clear that they need to be working together more often. Thankfully, they thought so too.
On "The Meeting", Blu's lyrics are backed by smooth guitar loop and drum pattern that evoke that golden era feel that K-Def knows so well. The track is only a minute and 22 seconds long, but Blu packs in so many knowledge filled quotables that that might be a good thing. Expects more great tracks like this one on K-Def's upcoming EP The Meeting dropping on August 20th via Redefinition Records. Along with Blu it will feature Insight (Y Society), Has-Lo and Kaimbr.
