No scene has been as teeming with raw talent in recent months as Chicago, and that run isn't about to stop now. Enter Lucki Eck$, a young curator of an atypical trap sound. This is like nothing you've ever heard. It's trap with a twist: spacey, trippy beats and abstract punchlines (catching bodies like trust falls). Hence the name of his breakout tape, Alternative Trap, which takes a very interesting approach to trap music that would normally be indicative of a backpacker, creating a different sonic experience.
There is a great attention to detail here (the artwork featuring famous gangster Charles "Lucky" Luciano is your first clue), and each record is crafted to fit the established aesthetic. It's as intriguing as it is fantastic. Alternative Trap features production from Plu2o Nash, Hippie Sabotage, Hippie Dream, Mullato Beats, Nate Fox (of Acid Rap fame), and Hytman.
