Sydney's RÜFÜS have a collections of hook driven songs to their name that draw off of downtempo and experimental cues to carry a listener through lush textures that can take hold despite their simplicity. With a new full release slated for August, which seems like it will be a continuation of their tight knit EP series that began with their 2011 acclaimed debut, the trio have released a teaser that picks up from their past grooves called "Desert Night".
In "Desert Night" expansive melodies are built around a dance-centric vibe and throughout, RÜFÜS tone the instrumentation down with a steady, chilled out vibe that only teases liftoff with heavy synth stabs that drop into a solid pattern, built around shuffling rhythmic features and sustained vocals. All the while the steady vocals provide reassurance to what would otherwise be a mystical electronic feature with near-ambient moments.
