These are the mashes that are worth hearing, so stop your searching and instead settle down at your computer… turn up your speakers… and get ready for that sweet nectar that only EARMILK can give ya. Let's GO!
Another week, another installment of Mashup Monday. After a couple weeks away to recharge the batteries, I'm coming back with 20+ mashups. Many should tickle your fancy, and quite a few have that repeatability factor that I look for in music. Ranging from mellow/relaxed mashups to those uptempo dance anthems that many of y'all seem to enjoy, press play and get to listening.
Perhaps my favorite mashup of this week (and quite possibly the year) hands down has to be Colatron's "Remember Me Across The Stars" which beautifully samples Adele and M83. Utilizing Adele's "Don't You Remember", Colatron (a British masher) layers it flawlessly on top of "Starwaves" from M83's upcoming original motion score for Oblivion. Just close your eyes and feel all your worries just slip away as Adele rises and falls perfectly in accordance with the flow of "Starwaves". Another mashup that elicited a similarly close reaction was S.I.R.'s "We Belong Together (It Ain't Over 'til It's Over)". Sampling diva Mariah Carey and pairing her with some Lenny Kravitz, K'naan, and Max Herre, we're treated to a slower paced mashup that makes you unconsciously start tapping your foot. It has a 70s vibe that seamlessly transitions from sample to sample. Especially loving the use of K'naan's "Waving Flag" in the background at the beginning and the end of the mash.
A radio-pop mashup that I actually kinda dig? Crazy talk, right? Well DeeM successfully pulls in an assortment of radio friendly samples and creates a mashup that should be easy to play at a party and have those radio lovers singing along. With Will.i.am, Britney Spears, LMFAO, and others at the forefront, "Scream & F.U.!" may just become a guilty pleasure…just maybe. For those EDM lovers, NYC artist HOHME delivers "Wayfaring Love"; a mashup that is big on slow but huge builds, an infectious chorus, and an explosive electro 'drop'. So if you're looking for that track that will have people throwing their hands in the air, well look no further than this track.
With additional tracks from the likes of Flight Facilities, The Hood Internet, my boys Ricky Cervantes and DJ Bahler, week 86 of Mashup Monday is good. So good in fact that even Marvin Gaye makes a sample appearance in RRodd's "With Your Suit & Tie On". Just let Justin Timberlake serenade you and your significant other/lover/one-night stand/etc., as y'all get to "know" each other. Enjoy all tracks below!
