Impersonating the likes of The Black Keys at one end and the Nine Inch Nail frontman Trent Reznor at the other, AWOLNATION's gritty new blues inspired tune "This Kid's Not Alright" packs quite the energetic punch. Suprisingly, "The Kid's Not Alright" is intended for a video game soundtrack ("Injustice: Gods Among Us") that will feature everyone from MSTRKRFT to Portugal. The Man and is due out April 16 under Water Tower Music.
AWOLNATION frontman Aaron Bruno has come a long way since his Under The Influence of Giants days, narrowing in on specific styles for different songs, but what has remained constant is his ability to lunge into unexpected hooks that can camp inside your mind for days at a time. What is also common among his hits ("Sail", "In the Clouds" and now "The Kid's Not Alright") is his raspy wail, creating an industrial-like moment in any song and a dynamic high point for the lighter moments to play off of.
