If you haven't already heard, Anthony Gonzalez of the electronic shoegaze unit M83 has jumped onboard to help score Joseph Kosinski's upcoming sci-fi film, Oblivion. To be honest I'm amazed this is the first time M83 has been asked to help score a film as their music has so many cinematic elements that would lend themselves perfectly to a soundtrack. There have been two releases from the soundtrack so far, the first of which is the instrumental track "Star Waves", which has the same perfectly-paced, dramatic build-up listeners have come to expect from M83.

The newest release off the soundtrack is "Oblivion" which features powerful vocals from Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfør. The song builds in the same way "Star Waves" does, and I can only imagine it will serve as an epic audible backdrop for some crazy, climactic scene in the movie (of which you can bet there will be many). The Oblivion soundtrack will be released April 9 on Back Lot Records, and the film will follow it, coming to theatres April 19.
