Shadow Dancer – Influencer Chart 006

Today is the sixth instalment in our influencer series. We've teamed up with Wavo, the social network for music, to feature top 10 charts from artists and influencers from around the world.   Curators are chosen based on their unique impact on modern music and culture.

Today Manchester brothers Shadow Dancer are up on deck bringing us a dynamic collection of techno-oriented tracks.  From deep house to 130-bpm techno and beyond, the duo imparts a common feeling of inherent progression in their selection.  The diversity of the chart reflects the brother's ever-evolving style — This isn't their first rodeo and their sound draws from a wide range of authentic influences spanning decades in electronic music.

Paul and Al Farrier have been producing since the 90s but in 2006, at the height of the electro era, the two brothers were handpicked by Mr. Ridha himself for a release on BNR, winning them support from industry big guns like Erol Alkan, Mr. Oizo and legendary 2manyDJs.  The BNR vets have lately been branching out with massive releases on Bad Life and GND Records and we're excited to showcase some of those here.

The first track on the chart is Shadow Dancer's own Day By Day off Turbo's Miami Lifestyle compilation.   I love the clean sounds juxtaposed with the crisp but dirty vocoding… Living up to the theme this track has cool beaches and sleazy vibes written all over it.

Another great selection, Bit Pitch by Beaumont Stanford is a super heavy and hard track fused with awesome progressive elements.  Building up into complete and utter mayhem, Stanford clears everything out with a great fill and drops his trademark, pleasantly snappy bassline… The perfect opener track to get the crowd moving.

To contrast, Future Beat Alliance’s Orbit Head is a fast-paced techno track —  Think warehouse meets underground.

I loved the inclusion of Hoshina’s Anniversary, a Japanese producer who has worked his way into the inner rings of Europe’s techno-kingpins.  A member of the BNR family, but this time releasing with GND Records, Vermont is an enormous track that characterizes the German techno scene as we know it.  H.A. throws down a bass-heavy, menacing drop with a huge kick and a terrifying industrial snare.  It’s the title track of his new Vermont EP,and is certainly the biggest track of the release.

Finally, Gunrose’s remix of Shadow Dancer’s own Build is a bumping acid-house track that reminds you why BNR picked up the duo in the first place. This is also a release with GND, perhaps as an indication of the home of the next generation of electro and acid-house technomusic stars.

You can listen to the chart in full and the complete tracklist isbelow:
