Unreleased music from Common? The phrase alone is enough to set off a few alarms. Released just in time for the weekend, producer No I.D. was gracious enough to dig into his collection to liberate a previously unreleased collaborative track featuring mic work from none other than past frequent collaborator, Common.
Flipping a funky piano driven sample of Ike Turner and the Kings of Rhythm's "Getting Nasty", the Cocaine 80s helmsman's production work shines brightest on the unreleased track as Common lays down some respectable verses. There's no official word as to the track's origins or original intended purpose. My best guess would say "No Sell Out" was left on the cutting room floor during the final cutting stages for Common's 2011 critically acclaim, yet commercial sleeper The Dreamer/The Believer.
The rapper/producer duo have a storied track record of joining forces to make classic material (see Common's 1994 LP Resurrection) and it's always a welcome sight to see the two renowned Chicagoans link up.
