Asian-American rappers Star2 and Young Henny arrive with their new single "Ring Ring," an 808-heavy melodic trap track that turns the emotional cost of ambition into something felt in the chest.
"Ring Ring" bridges the sounds and culture of the West Coast and Southeast Asia. Star2 weaves Karen-language verses alongside English, and the bilingual shift reads as a statement – his refusal to leave any part of himself behind. The track's production is layered with atmospheric sonics, giving it a broader, immersive feel. The metaphor of missed calls lingers throughout, representing distance not just physically, but emotionally. Lines like, "Ring ring shorty / calling ring ring / it was your girl calling me / why you salty," cut through with casual sharpness and paint a picture of deeper tension. The accompanying visual, produced by JYSA Films, reinforces that direction. Shot at night outside a neighborhood liquor store, it moves between aerial drone footage and gritty street-level frames. The color palette is dark and naturalistic, broken only by warm pockets of light.
Star2 continues to channel this perspective into his music, curating collaborations that feel both globally connected and deeply personal. Having begun life in a Thai refugee camp after fleeing genocide, his trajectory informs a body of work rooted in resilience, identity, and forward motion, while using music as both an outlet and a bridge. He brings that same energy to the stage on April 11 in Bangkok, Thailand, at BluePrint Live House where he will be joined with Chinatown Runner, Sprite, special guest HoodTrophy Bino, Ler Mu Dex, Lil BK, Eh La, Tae Tae, FG Fame, JJSP, Don Kids, and Name M.
