To honor the memory of her brother who recently lost a battle with cancer, songstress Jhené Aiko composed a heartfelt song dedicated to her brother appropriately titled "For My Brother". Last week Aiko's 26-year-old brother Miyagi passed away. The R&B singer took to Tumblr to release the song and provided listeners with briefly explanation for the song's release:

I wrote and recorded this myself on my lap top, for my brother…. Miyagi . this song was really just intended for him to hear….. but I thought it would be nice to share ….I was so nervous to play it for him myself, so when i left to San Francisco on Thursday I had my TT play it for him….She said his breath got calm as he listened and i know he heard every word ….later that night he became the angel he was born to be and i am so grateful that he got to hear this before he left on his infinite journey….now I hear him telling ME , what i was singing to him…  to not give up . I love you SO much Miyagi!!!! . Everything x2 now. Everything for you now ….

On the emotionally moving song Jhené calmly yet plaintively sings, "I wish I could take away your pain/I wish I could trade places/ man I just want you to be okay/ man I just wish I could erase this/I know life has a funny way/so I'm not complaining/ and while I still got you here, still got you here, still got you here, I hope you can hear this/ don't give up, don't give up on us."

The circumstance under which listeners are granted new music from Aiko are truly unfortunate. The EARMILK family would like to send our condolences, thoughts and prayers to Jhené and her family during their time of mourning.

The newly signed Def Jam artist is currently working along with producer No I.D. on her forthcoming debut album.
