The weekend has come and gone, and now you're deep into your weekly grind. Never fear, Wobble Wednesday is back with more of your favorite face-melting bass drops to help you make the most of your mundane lifestyle. Today I'll be guiding you along through the many variations of bass music that we see these days, new and old. I wanted to turn the Wobble Wednesday feature into more than just a section for today's dubstep, so I decided it was only right to incorporate some drum & bass as well as an oldies section into the weekly feature.

You'll be hearing amazing bass-driven tunes from the softer, chiller side of dubstep to the filthy, grimier side that everybody loves to rage to. I'll also dip into the world of drum & bass as well as add some classic tunes from the 'golden age' of dubstep. All I ask from you guys is to enjoy and download. Once the weekend hits, steal the iPod at the party and throw on these songs. Guarantee it will make the place jump!

BASS

I don't personally like to take rips from mixes or radio recordings, but with a new Skream and Hijak track, it's really hard to resist. This song keeps a continuous dubstep beat throughout, staying closely with their roots, and adds an extremely dark and dirty bass line to bring the song into the 21st century. This stream will have to do until the full release comes out, and it's going to be huge! Kill Paris has been on the rise recently, releasing another electro/dub track this week called "I'm Free." It seems they've found a winning combination to all of their songs, sample a catchy song that you can recognize for all of about 20 seconds, very Madeon-esque.

FILTH

It's been a while since we last heard some new and fresh Zeds Dead. Fortunately for us, the Toronto duo dove deep into their beat basement to discover this gem they had been holding onto for quite some time now. The remix of "Toot Toot" shows how gritty Zeds Dead can really get, all while keeping that distinct flow thats become recognizable with all of their music. It can be very tempting to skip this Knuckle Children bootleg, I mean, a Nicki Minaj song doesn't really belong in a dubstep post, right? This song actually got me back interested into dirty, filthy dubstep songs. For a while they have all lost variety, this one on the other hand, keeps a heavy bass line with the addition of keeping somewhat of a melody during the drop.

OLDIES

I've decided to drop a track this week from one of the pioneers, Distance. This has to be one of his most recognizable songs, and it's easy to see the influence it had on dubstep today. The synthy chords and build ups for when the bass kicks in are similar to the melodies and drops for today's standards.

DRUM & BASS

Because drum & bass has an extremely fast BPM, it would be easy to make a song loud and heavy, I'd like to point out a couple producers that are breaking the mold and slowing down the feel of a basic drum & bass tune and making it that much more interesting. Hooch's "Hesperus" is a soothing DnB track and to my surprise has an amazing piano riff about 3 minutes in, keeping perfectly with the open spacey, melodic feel. Capsika is a UK drum & bass producer, and staying within his genre he decided remix one of the greats, High Contrast, which is exceptional.

CHILL

Minnesota finished up his newest Astral Projection EP, which I was happy to include the self titled track off of. Although as a whole, the EP does not 'wow' me, yet still three great songs nonetheless. The EP keeps with the melodic/purple sound which is a perfect contrast to common dubstep DJs these days as they attempt to simply go louder and harder than their previous release. Unfortunately, I would like to have seen the vocal support a little better. If at any bet, take a listen and make your own opinion about. Michael Imperial seems to have perfected the chopped vocal style with this track "Feenin." It's a fun synth heavy track, perfect for the start of summer.
