In preparation for the release of his official full-length debut People Hear What They See D.C.producer Oddisee decided to go against the grain and rather than do the standard issue single leaks, opted to do something a bit more interesting. Yesterday, Oddisee released a video of Marvin Gaye's "Ain't That Peculiar" that features a re-imagining of the Motown classic in addition to a verse provided by Oddisee. The combination of the edited vid (compliments to Rob Mac) and Oddisee's reworked production is crazy. The slick visuals of a debonair Marvin Gaye (circa 1965) and the hybrid hip hop/soul musical stylings of Oddisee makes for quite the memorable remix.
As if the news of his latest remix wasn't good enough, Oddisee will also be liberating an additional three tracks featuring remixed songs by K-Os, Bon Iver and Metronomy which, in addition to "Ain't That Peculiar", will be released as a 4-track EP titled Odd Renditions and will be available for FREE download on May 15.
