Midwest meets West in this melodiously fresh track from talented emerging rapper Bryan Sledge, also known as BJ The Chicago Kid. As his namesake says, he's from Chicago but his recent collaboration with LA-based production outfit THC means we get "Dream II," a song that is equal parts dreamy and hard-hitting. No stranger to the world of gospel and soul music, BJ fully employs his vocal range in this song, making good use of all of his musical gifts.
Off his upcoming LP, Pineapple Now and Laters, the track opens with Will Smith, dropping knowledge on the purpose of hard work and reflecting on his own work ethic. Being that THC produced some of the best songs coming from Casey Veggies, Dom Kennedy and Schoolboy Q, it seems the Chicago kid knows who to work with when it comes to making solid music.
