A week ago we posted that the album "Dark Night of the Soul" may never be released due to legal disputes. The album is produced by the legendary Danger Mouse(1/2 of Gnarls Barkley). Written by Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse. The album features many artists including: James Mercer of The Shins, The Flaming Lips, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Frank Black of the Pixies, Iggy Pop, Nina Persson of The Cardigans, Suzanne Vega, Vic Chesnutt, David Lynch (legendary director), and Scott Spillane of Neutral Milk Hotel and The Gerbils.
You may be wondering why the director David Lynch is involved in the project. He has produced a 100+ page book that would be released with the album. It is said to to a visual representation of the album and it is limited to only 5000 copies.
The album's release would definitely be worth the wait but right now there are legal disputes on whether or not the album will even be released. But luckily, you are able to stream the album off of NPR's website in its entirety. The album is a step above anything thats being released right now and hopefully it it will be released some day soon but for now we have to settle for what we can get.
