1015 Folsom has forged a unique partnership among a venue, performers, promoters, and the community to create a vibrant evening of music and art out of which 100% of the proceeds will benefit the National Network of Abortion Funds and Planned Parenthood.
“We could not stand idly by,” stated Mya Shone, 1015 Folsom CFO, “as 35 million women and girls of reproductive age, as well as other people capable of pregnancy, living in nearly every Southern state and throughout the Midwest become unable to access essential abortion services. 1015 Folsom,” noted Shone, “decided immediately to do what we do best — bring people together to create an exciting event.”
Regan Parrish — Femmelectric — states passionately why she and more than 25 Bay Area performers heeded the call to participate in and mobilize for the Fight For Our Rights: Abortion Access Fundraiser. “Like many, I am still shocked by the surreality of the Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade. I am outraged,” Parrish stressed, “by the profoundly devasting impact this decision has on American society, and specifically on historically marginalized people.”
“In thinking about ways to aid folks in states with current abortion bans,” Parrish explained, “supporting the Fight For Our Rights: Abortion Access Fundraiser feels like at least some small action we can take locally to show solidarity with those impacted the most.”
Aside from the epic night of dancing to a multi-genre lineup including headliner Heidi Lawden (Los Angeles) and local femme-centric favorites, the Fight For Our Rights: Abortion Access Fundraiser includes visual art, vendors, and a raffle for donated prizes.
