LANDR and Native Instruments launch a creative project: Stems Mastering

Stems is a new flexible format created by Native Instruments that is enhancing the musician's control. Stems allows DJs and producers to make instant edits, remixes, and more, by separating the elements of a track to play with live. Imagine being able to split each stem of a track, when vocals, drums, melody, and bass line all become tangible elements to experiment with more freely.
 
What are the main benefits of being able to edit stems spontaneously in the studio or on stage? The best answer is easily the freedom one can explore when transitioning becomes a finer art with attention to detail. LANDR's mastering service now combines the Stems concept to it's software in a smoother way to maintain full control of the creative process with professional quality sound. 
 Mate Galic, the current president and CTO of Native Instruments, explains how important the synergy is for their new project. 
"As an open multi-track audio format, Stems enhances creative possibilities for DJs, producers, and live performers, and our ambition has always been to make the features available to anyone. LANDR compatibility with Stems is the next step on this journey, offering producers a convenient, affordable solution for mastering with convincing sonic results.”
Multiple musicians are already adopting the Stems service as a valuable part of their creative process from production to performances. Richie Hawtin for instance is re-releasing his 2015 critically acclaimed album, From My Mind To Yours, through LANDR mastering onto Stems. Anyone who uses the service will be able to see exactly how track by track is broken down, revealing a hidden scope of Hawtin's musical ideas. He comments on the new technology saying, 
 "It's no secret that I'm fully behind the approach to encourage individuality in creativity and for artists to play differently. Stems is a new format that mirrors my constant quest for spontaneity to drive the art of performance forwards. I hope that releasing my album From My Mind To Yours in this format inspires others to support the approach and bring even more flexibility to the art of DJing.”

Tiga, a popular Montréal musician, is releasing his new single "Eye Luv U" and former hit "Let's Go Dancing" via Stems mastering, where all the components of the song are open sourced for DJs to play with.  You can learn more technically about how exactly the Stems project works and see an inside perspective of LANDR's main offices located in Montréal, Canada from the video below. 
 
Stems is a special way to bring one's musical abilities to the forefront of new mastering technology. The collaboration between Native Instruments and LANDR is pushing boundaries of what musicians are able to do, which is exactly how innovative ideas flourish. Humans are challenged by their own limitations and some forward thinking companies are moving beyond what is doable to find what is possible.
