Tame Impala announce 'Currents Collectors Edition'

Kevin Parker, AKA the mastermind and multi-instrumentalist behind psych rock act and one of Australia's best artists, Tame Impala, is back again. It's been a few years since we've heard proper solo material from Parker as Tame Impala, though he has been busy this festival season doing DJ sets alongside producer and collaborator Mark Ronson. It seems now, however, is time to rejoice as Parker is on the cusp of reissuing his last album, 2015's Currents. Currents was his foray into crystalline 80's synth pop, which garnered a lot of critical acclaim, and surprisingly divided a lot of fans who wanted Parker to stick with the 60's pastiche sound that brought him success on his first two albums Innerspeaker and Lonerism.

With the release of this reissue comes a few extra goodies, of course, including some unreleased music from the Currents sessions. The full list of bonuses is explained via Tame Impala's website:

"The Currents Collectors Edition box set includes the album on limited edition red marbled vinyl with alternate artwork, a 12” featuring two remixes, and a 7” and flexidisc with three b-sides. Plus a poster and a zine of images and scribbles offering a candid glimpse into the making of Currents. "

It's possible one such b-side is the tune being crafted in the video above, which serves as the promo for the Currents Collectors Edition. It features Parker in studio mode, building an instrumental bed from the ground up, showing up a peek into Parker's creative process. Either way, any fan of Currents or Tame Impala for that matter should be excited at this news.

You can pre-order the box set here, which is out November 17th.
