Shriya, the talented new singer-songwriter who has released her debut EP 'In a box', is a raw tapestry of emotions, vulnerability, and resilience. Available on all streaming services, this four-track project traces her experiences of heartbreak, mental health struggles, and self-discovery, providing listeners with something deeply personal and universally relatable.

Shriya began writing the songs that would eventually make up 'In a box,' when she was only 16 years old and turned her reflections into beautiful ballads. Fully realized, each track on the EP represents the challenges and triumphs of moving through young adulthood as an independent artist. “Music is the only thing that keeps me going,” says Shriya. “It’s always there if I need it.” Narrating her journey, she shares her heart with the world, giving space to listeners to commiserate and connect.

The EP opener, “Her,” sets the furious tone with its soul-stirring investigation of betrayal and heartbreak. Shriya’s unvarnished lyrics, buoyed by Yohan Marshall’s production and Pedro Peixoto’s filmic mix, pack a powerful emotional punch that lasts. Next is “I’m not alright,” exploring mental health with courage and honesty. With Hersh Desai’s production and Shriya’s velvety-textured harmonies, the track provides soothing wings for an anthem for everyone who’s felt alone in their struggles.

So switching gears, “Are You Down” brings R&B-inflected energy to the EP, illustrating young love’s thrills and anxieties. The project finishes with “Dream About It,” a bittersweet and nostalgic farewell that eases the listener through reveries of longing and unrealized hopes.

With "In a box", Shriya takes place as one in every of music’s most dynamic and empathic new voices, a confluence of intense emotion, shimmering melodies, and shifting soundscapes. Who needs that connection, comfort, and strength to feel your experience?
