Bridgerton star Oli Higginson unveils a new side of musical identity as Modern Oli with his latest single "Don't Let Me Love You," weaving sobering intensity and vulnerability together for an intimate listening experience. Inspired by the relatable, gradual decline of a relationship and the spiral of infidelity and cheating, numbness and resentment, and self-destruction that follows, the track is led by raw lyricism and a haunting vibe.
Channelling personal realness into soaring sonics led by live band stylings, acoustic guitars and creeping layers of cello, the track echoes with an eeriness as the song unravels the moment where things begin to decline. Described by Oli as "a cry for help, a statement of ending," the track is accompanied by cinematic visuals, directed by Misha Citron and starring Oli’s fellow Bridgerton star Emma Naomi.
Encapsulating the search for beauty as love fades, the cathartic mood of the visuals infuse touches of hope for better things to follow after heartbreak. Speaking of the message of the video, Oli says, “There’s something kind of beautiful about it, almost like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly – it is an ending but if it’s evolving into something better then maybe it is a beginning after all?”
Having announced his headline show at Oslo, Hackney in September as a show at SuperSonic Records in Paris during Paris Fashion Week, Oli is cementing a strong fanbase, turning up the excitement for everything to follow.
