If you’ve ever had a past lover leave, return, and leave again, you can relate to Devon Gabriella’s latest track, "Old Time's Sake," which captures the feeling of being stuck in a toxic cycle you know won’t end well.

Hailing from Northern California, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter delivers a soft disco-pop track with a driving groove reminiscent of the iconic Fleetwood Mac, guaranteed to get you dancing for nearly four minutes.

Gabriella shared on her TikTok that this song plays on the idea of inviting an ex-lover to her show to hear her sing and meet once again, though deep down she knows it’s only for the plot and that it wouldn’t be the best idea.

This is recognizable in the opening lyrics: “I could call you out of boredom and invite you to my show then sing about you like the whole damn night.” She continues singing, “Come on baby you can do it don’t have to wait. It’s kind of sweet you’re gonna leave me for old time sake. Oh we’ve been here once before, we played this game. The only thing you gotta do is go M.I.A. Why go cry about it when I can save my tears. We know you only ever want me when I’m not here.”

Relationships can be messy, but Gabriella crafted a beautifully clean and concise song that tells its story perfectly—and will have you hitting repeat for old time’s sake.
