[Interview] JAHVER delves into solo debut track "Innocent," building a community and future goals

With JAHVER – the new project from Oliver Moy – the Asian-American sensation carves out a solo identity for himself laden with a distinctly darker yet atmospheric pop sound.

Having been the co-founder and leader of boy group North Star Boys, Moy reinvents his sonic presence as JAHVER led by the release of his recent debut track "Innocent," a cinematic and moody production rooted in his raw, husky vocal tones and anthemic instrumentals.

Establishing an edgier yet more vulnerable creative feel, JAHVER comes alive as a no-holds-barred project for Moy as he builds a community from the ground up, drawing us in with nightly livestream where fans see the drafts, the doubts, and the decisions in real-time. Deeply human but rooted in a lusciously polished musicality JAHVER cements his place with a powerful blend of multicultural perspective, impactful storytelling, and cinematic pop sonics as he delivers authenticity wrapped in earworm melodies.

As he kicks off his solo journey, he chats with Earmilk about expanding his sonic range, what he learned from daily livestreams, his goals for the future and much more.

“Innocent” had a darker pop vibe? How would you describe your sonic range right now?

"Innocent" came from an emotional place… during a time where I was navigating through emotions I didn't quite understand yet, the group that i have formed and spent years working towards (NSB) felt like it disappeared overnight without closure. The production for Innocent made me feel recognized, I could relate the elements of that track to how i was feeling.

As you experiment more with sound, what genres are you excited to try in the future?

I have produced countless tracks finding the sound that resonates with me that feel recognizable but also refreshing and new. I want to provide music to the world that is impactful. EDM-pop, Alternative R&B, and Dark Pop have been what feels closest to my heart.

You’ve turned livestreams into a creative safe space. What have you learned from doing them?

Going into 2026 i believe it's futuristic and innovative to share my life through a screen, to be unapologetically me. I have learned that livestreaming is what I believe is the best way to connect to a fanbase.

How does interacting with your community shape your artistry?

I started livestreaming daily at the lowest point in my life, to share those emotions made me feel that it's normal to go through ups and downs in life. The impact my livestreams have made to thousands of people already is why I continue to do it, it is my motivation. Sharing moments in

life that are happening in real time is great to use as inspiration when writing.

Your solo music is very honest. What’s the hardest part of that, and what’s the most rewarding?

The hardest part is going back to emotions I thought I moved past. Some of it hits tougher than I expect. But the most rewarding part is hearing that the music helped someone or made them feel seen. That makes all the vulnerability worth it.

Now that you’re solo, what do you hope to do differently? Any goals moving forward?

I am using this opportunity to write a story — sonically, visually, everything. I want to create a world that reflects my life. One of my big goals is developing a sound people recognize instantly as JAHVER, a sound that moves emotions.

What three words describe your artistry?

Emotional. Cinematic. Innovative.

What’s one question you wish someone would ask you?

I wish someone would ask me how I’d like my music to impact people. I’d say: I hope it makes them feel less alone, even for a moment.
