Faith Child bridges gospel and modern soul on his new album “When Faith Feels Far”

Faith Child's latest full-length project, "When Faith Feels Far," is a vibrant blend of rap, gospel, afro-fusion, electronica, and pop. This 15-track set is both a companion to and an accelerator for those who are sweeping up the low points in life and turning them into new school-dance-engineered empowerment.

Spanning 47 minutes and 20 seconds, When Faith Feels Far marks a spiritual evolution from one of contemporary gospel’s most innovative voices. The album’s production sounds like a global road plan for modern inspiration. Komenz (Shakka, Goldlink), Alex E (Labrinth, Hamzaa, Blinkie), Tytanium (Joeboy, Moelogo), and GKiD (Guvna B) all contribute their workmanship to create a sonic palette that is rich, cinematic, and multi-dimensional.

Faith Child is at his most lyrically vulnerable and vocally convincing on standouts “Catfish,” “Church Hurt,” and “Fast Life.” “Catfish” explores the uncertainty of truth in the digital age, and “Church Hurt” addresses the wounds of betrayal and the restorative power of grace. “Fast Life” articulates the contrast between ambition and peace, a universal reflection of today’s striving without reprieve.

The project’s roster of guests only reinforces that thrust. Gospel superstar Erica Campbell, Maverick City Music’s Joe L Barnes, and CalledOut Music, as well as rising artist Marizu, all bring rich streams of worship, soul, and contemporary shine into play on each track, turning them into a word-for-word exchange of faith and feeling.

Billed by Faith Child as "When Faith Feels Far," this record explores the tension between doubt and belief, loss and light, yet it provides listeners with an honesty wrapped in hope. With this album, Faith Child has reminded us yet again that faith is built in the valleys we’re courageous enough to tread.
