Katherine Christie Evans reimagines a love chant for the modern generation on "Lucente Stella (Shining Star)"

Katherine Christie Evans offers something purposeful and timeless in a world of music that's oversaturated by fleeting trends. Her newest single, "Lucente Stella (Shining Star)," is a fascinatingly bold mix of ancient text and contemporary experimental sound, a track that shines just as brightly as its title suggests.

The DIY queer and nonbinary sound engineer, producer, singer, and instrumentalist from Romford, UK, is behind every nuance of sound. Katherine Christie Evans writes, records, mixes, and produces their music all on their own, as evidenced by a track like "Lucente Stella," which showcases the steadfast attitude toward art.

The lyrics of the song are inspired by an anonymous Medieval love song from the Codex Rossi, a 15th-century Italian manuscript. Its roots may be ancient, but Katherine brings a contemporary spin, layered, visual, and utterly gripping. "Lucente Stella" tells a story of love that can never be fulfilled, distant and unquenchable, a feeling that lingers in the heart.

This is the kind of track that can bridge generations, thoughtful and yet forward-thinking in experimental music. The single is accompanied by a music video directed by renowned Italian multimedia artist Thomas Tokamu. The visual identity of Tokamu, together with that of Katherine's production company, is rooted in daring and curiosity and is driven by the need to return to history from today.

In "Lucente Stella," Katherine Christie Evans plunges readers into a world of classical poetry and DIY creativity, unfolding an entanglement of queerness, craftsmanship, and creation. It's a bright chapter for the artist, charting their own course fully, truly, and excellently.
