Hailing from Windsor, Ontario, Talking Violet weaves grit and melody into a sound they call “dreamo,” part shoegaze haze, part grunge bite, and part dream-pop glow.
Their latest single, “In Your Mind,” distills that mix into something powerful and moving, rich in texture, yet anchored by an emotional pull.
The song reflects on the limits of what you can do for someone you care about. “I've had to learn over time that no matter how much you want to help people, so often it's really out of your hands,” says vocalist Jillian Goyeau.
“They have to be the ones to figure things out, but you can do what you can from a supporting line.” That perspective runs through its striking hook, as she sings, “I wonder if I echo in your mind?”
Following their album Everything At Once, which explored themes of change, loss, and finding yourself again, “In Your Mind” feels like another step in the band’s evolution.
It’s a song that balances emotional honesty with the sweeping, big-chorus moments that make their music so compelling.
