Venice-hailing indie duo Go Hawaii marks a new chapter with their latest EP Mangy, a collection that sees them polish up their layered sonic world for a refreshing experience.
From the dreamy nostalgia of previous release “Days Waster,” to the high energy, sun-kissed styling of “Tangled To The Sun,” the EP brims with a upbeat feeling. A genre-bending twist comes in the form of riotous, post-punk-tinged “Santa Barbara,” before the EP closes out with the heartfelt notes of The Smiths’ cult-classic “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out,” with the duo’s iteration evoking a sense of newness.
Speaking of the project, the pair share “This EP feels like a bridge from our first album, which was the first time we put together a complete effort as a band. With this record, though, you’ll hear hints of what’s coming next. A song like Santa Barbara really shows that growth—we put our best effort into it. From the synths to the drums and guitars, everything was written in a more intentional and professional way, at least that’s what we aimed for. We’re really happy with how it turned out, and it marks an exciting new chapter for us.”
Exploring music with an expansive approach since their formation in 2016, Go Hawaii carve out a distinct place for themselves in music with their dynamic, genre-hopping artistry as they gain creative momentum with each new release.
