LA-based indie-pop trio Iglu & Hartly popped back into the pop sphere with the eponymous single "Swayze" sometime last year- and without further ado, the non-conforming outfit continued their anthem-driven releases with "True Gentleman". The track is a refreshing take on 80's pop-rock, with a tinge of alternative elements with hard-hitting, rousing drum grooves and electrifying guitar arrangements. Led by the talent of writer, singer, and producer Jarvis Anderson whose expressive and distinct vocals cut through the engulfing pop-rock soundscape- the track centres on the concept of staying friends with someone to preserve the relationship even though underlying feelings are involved. Jarvis embodies the spirit of that friend who is there on demand with lines like "Did you call for a gentleman?/I can’t help but be there for ya/Say you need a ride, cuz he said a lie/Now you need a shoulder to cry on" as he reassures that friend that they can rely on me.
The accompanying visual is a play on 80's cinema and uses the friendship theme as a recurring motif and the landline as a plot device for the connection between the lead character and his "friend".
