Olamide is one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars and one of the most successful hip-hop acts to emerge from Africa. Equally at home emoting over a buoyant afrobeats rhythm as he is rhyming over a pulsing trap beat, he’s known for multilingual tracks which showcase his ability to rap and sing in English, Pidgin and Yoruba. His latest effort "Trumpet" sees him teaming with fellow Nigerian singer CKay (of "Love Nwatiti" fame) and the duo create a smooth banger for the ladies in their life. The record opens to the sound of ocean waves with CKay and Olamide trading soothing vocals over a mid-tempo beat made up of soft pads and a hypnotic percussion-driven groove.
Accompanied by a music video with colourful scenes to match the energy of the song, the two sing innuendos to a love interest. Shot in Hollywood and its environs, viewers are given a chance to view the opulence from a distance as we see the two serenade their respective love interests.
He’s also the founder of YBNL Nation, one of Nigeria’s most recognized record labels, where he’s helped launch the careers of artists like Fireboy DML and Adekunle Gold.
