I wonder if this guy's any fun at parties… The song goes on to say "a quarter century, afraid that I've been wasting time", a lyric sent out to capture an audience. In 2023, not all songs are written in a way that makes you doubt all of your life choices, but I'm on board with it. But those are just the lyrics. The entire song encapsulates that quarter-life crisis feeling perfectly. From nostalgic synth rhythms and welcoming background vocals, even the piano stabs in verse one seem to bring back faded recollections. Charles on TV really puts the "genre-defying" in "genre-defying artist", as he fuses soundscapes together to create a world – a place to stop, drop, and just ponder about life.
