Charles on TV ponders his "Quarter Century", here's why you should too

What is my true purpose? We've probably all thought that at least once. Struggling to find meaning is a regular occurrence. In fact, the feeling's so normal it even has its own name: quarter-life crisis. A fitting name, as the typical time for this to occur is around 20-25 years old – also known as our quarter century. Not to be (entirely) confused with "Quarter Century", Charles on TV's latest single – released on February 3, 2023. Can you guess what it's about?

"When I forget to dream, a thousand aspirations die". The opening lyric hits us like a train, immediately cutting to the chase. I wonder if this guy's any fun at parties… The song goes on to say "a quarter century, afraid that I've been wasting time", a lyric sent out to capture an audience. In 2023, not all songs are written in a way that makes you doubt all of your life choices, but I'm on board with it. But those are just the lyrics. The entire song encapsulates that quarter-life crisis feeling perfectly. From nostalgic synth rhythms and welcoming background vocals, even the piano stabs in verse one seem to bring back faded recollections. Charles on TV really puts the "genre-defying" in "genre-defying artist", as he fuses soundscapes together to create a world – a place to stop, drop, and just ponder about life. A world that lasts for 3 minutes and 38 seconds, and is strictly auditory. If you're a visual person, don't fret (guitar joke)! The song has an accompanying music video, out on YouTube. But readers, my question for you is this: What do you get when you mix bells, synths, flutes, and groove with distorted guitars and a super good audio engineer? (Hint: listen to the song)
